Tips for travelling with Minors to Argentina

Traveling with minors can be a rewarding and unique experience, completely different from your solo trips, but it also comes with its own unique set of challenges.

These challenges can vary depending on the age of the child, the mode of transportation, and the destinations so here are some tips if you planning a trip to Argentina with your children.

1° Travel Documents:

We all know that documents are one of the most important things when travelling, especially if you are travelling abroad. Now you don’t only need to check your travel documents, but now you also need to check the minors’ documentations.
When travelling to Argentina you will need to take into account that if the minor is not travelling with his/her two parents you will need an affidavit or notarized consent from the other child’s parent notifying that she / he is agree about the minor travelling abroad. On the contrary, if the minor is travelling with both parents, you will just need to show the document, for example, a birth certificate that shown who are the minors’ parents.
It is recommendable to keep a copy of the child’s birth certificate, medical history, and emergency contact details when travelling.

2° Connections

As you have probably already observed, Argentina is a very large country with many destinations to visit and if you are travelling with minors, it is super important to consider flight connections very carefully in order to save as much time as possible with the least unnecessary stops possible.

Although kids might find flying fun, it is important they feel safe and comfortable with taking some flights during the trip and it might be helpful to prepare them with snacks and entertainment on board.

3° Meals Time

Unlike the vast majority of countries around the world, Argentina is known for having late meal times if we compare it with North America or Europe. If your children have earlier meal times, be prepared for flexibility and possibly carrying snacks. These are the times that Argentines usually have for meals:
Breakfast: From 7 – 9 AM
Lunch: From 12.30 – 2.30 PM
Merienda: 4 – 6 PM
Dinner: From 8 – 10 PM

Note: In the afternoon, at around 4 – 6 PM, Argentines usually have a coffee or mate after work or school (afternoon snack) with something to eat, which can be toasts, biscuits or fruit for not being as much hungrier until dinner time. This means that they do 4 meals in total during the day. The “merienda” is important culturally, especially for children or older people who might take a break from the day. It’s also a time for socializing with friends and family.

4° Destinations

Argentina offers a wealth of family-friendly destinations, with activities and attractions that are perfect for traveling with minors. These are the destinations that we have selected as the best in Argentina to travel with minors.
• Buenos Aires: Buenos Aires has plenty of family-friendly attractions despite of having many walkable parks with games for children. Places like the Participatory Science Museum, forbidden not to touch, Colon Theater, The Bellas Artes Museum, Caminito Street, Football Stadiums among any other fun activities.

• Iguazú Falls: Iguazu is an incredible destination for kids to experience nature. The park offers trails ranging from short, easy walks to longer hikes, allowing you to customize your visit based on your child’s age and energy levels. On the other hand, the area surrounding the falls is home to a variety of animals, such as monkeys, coatis, and tropical birds, which children will find fascinating.

• San Carlos de Bariloche: Bariloche is an outdoor paradise, and many activities are perfect for children to explore nature in a fun and safe way. Snow-capped mountains, crystal-clear lakes, and vast forests, Bariloche offers a wide variety of family-friendly activities throughout the year.
